Delete Your Data — Shiv Darshan

Shiv Darshan does not have user accounts. There is no email, phone number, or password tied to your use of the app. Most of your data — japa counts, intent, preferred language, reminder times, 21-day Arc progress, Yatra plans — lives only on your device.

This page explains how to delete the small amount of data that does live on our servers (the TALK conversation memory and daily quota counter), and how to remove every trace of the app from your device.

What we store about you on our servers

When you use the TALK feature, two things are written to our backend (Cloudflare Workers + KV):

  1. Conversation memory — the last 10 exchanges between you and Shiva (questions and replies, each clipped to 200 characters), keyed to an anonymous 22-character device ID generated on your device. Auto-deletes after 90 days of inactivity.
  2. Daily quota counter — a count of TALK messages sent today, keyed to the same anonymous device ID. Auto-deletes after 48 hours of inactivity.

There is no other server-side data tied to you.

Option 1 — Erase your conversation memory immediately (in the app)

  1. Open Shiv Darshan
  2. Tap Settings (5th tab)
  3. Scroll to Forget our earlier exchanges
  4. Confirm

The app sends a request to our backend that immediately deletes the memory:<your-device-id> record from Cloudflare KV. The daily quota counter, being short-lived, expires on its own within 48 hours.

This is the fastest way and requires no email.

Option 2 — Delete all data and stop using the app

  1. Erase server-side memory first using Option 1 above (so your conversation memory is removed before you delete the app)
  2. Delete the app from your device:
    • iOS: long-press the Shiv Darshan icon → Remove App → Delete App
    • Android: long-press the Shiv Darshan icon → App info → Uninstall

When you uninstall the app, your device-side data (japa counts, intent, language, reminders, arc progress, Yatra plans, and your anonymous device ID itself) is deleted by the operating system.

If you did not erase server-side memory before uninstalling, it will still auto-delete 90 days after your last TALK message. There is no way for us to identify "your" record after the app is gone, because we never had your name, email, or phone number — only the anonymous device ID generated by the app.

Option 3 — Request deletion by email

If you want a written confirmation, or you cannot use the in-app option for any reason, email us at:

We will respond within 30 days confirming deletion or explaining what we can do.

Important caveat: because we do not collect your name, email, or phone, we cannot identify "your" record from your email alone. The most reliable path is to use the in-app Forget our earlier exchanges option (Option 1 above) before contacting us. If you have already uninstalled the app, we have no way to link your email to a specific record — but your data will auto-expire within 90 days regardless.

For a general inquiry about deletion (rather than deletion of a specific record), email is the right channel.

What happens after deletion

  • The conversation memory record is immediately removed from Cloudflare KV
  • The daily quota counter expires within 48 hours
  • Cloudflare Worker access logs (which contain IP address and device ID) expire within 24 hours per Cloudflare's default retention
  • No backup copies are kept
